Annotation
Developments in the sphere of information and communication technologies paved the way for emerging concepts of lifelong learning, non-formal and informal learning
which are often realized through online courses and represent a new way of thinking about education. This paper aims to identify the most effective e-learning platform
to create, publish and promote non-formal online foreign language courses. To achieve this goal the methods of thematic literature research, analysis, and interpretation as well as the comparative approach were used. In this study the authors managed to outline the general relevance of online courses, to analyse of five e-learning platforms (Google Classroom, Podia, Thinkific, Moodle, Stepik) and choose the most efficient platform that is suitable for building a non-formal online foreign language course. The results of this paper reveal that the choice of an e-learning platform largely depends on the provider of a nonformal course. A conclusion can be drawn that Stepik is efficient for the aforementioned purpose as it meets the necessary requirements and possesses the appropriate tools and features. Further research on the topic is needed to achieve practical results and evaluate the possibilities of the Stepik platform when it comes to creating, publishing and promoting a non-formal online foreign language course.
