The aim of the study is to develop and pilot a methodology for teaching foundational information technology to international students at preparatory departments while simultaneously developing their academic Russian language proficiency. The research addressed the following tasks: analyzing students’ linguistic and subject-specific
challenges; designing an integrated “Fundamentals of Informatics” course; implementing specialized teaching methods and assessment formats; and evaluating the effectiveness of the proposed approach based on both subject-matter competence and language proficiency. The 2024–2025 pilot implementation demonstrated improved IT literacy and enhanced Russian language skills among students from Asian countries.
